ISEES Best Thesis Award-2024 (Master and PhD)
Preamble The International Society for Energy, Environment and Sustainability was founded at IIT Kanpur in January 2014 to spread knowledge in Energy, Environment, Sustainability and Combustion. It is a body of the most distinguished engineers and scientists from entire spectrum of engineering profession in the Government, R&D Laboratories, Academia and Industry from within India and abroad. In this changing environmental scenario, the time has come when more emphasis has to be laid on renewable energy resources. Moreover, in this dynamic scenario of swelling competition and reducing profits, staying environmentally responsible can be extremely challenging for any organization. More efficient systems must be developed to meet the increasing energy demands keeping in mind its environmental impact. People have to become more aware and concerned about the environmental challenges which the world is facing today to make it a better place for us and our future generations. The Society aims to spread knowledge in the areas mentioned above among people and make them more aware about the environmental challenges which the world is facing today. Society is involved in various activities in the domains mentioned above, like workshops, seminars, conferences, etc. The society also recognizes young researchers for their contributions in this field. The society instituted the above scheme of Awards and has been implementing it since 2015 to identify innovative and creative research projects undertaken by the students and scholars in the engineering institutions, and to give them early recognition and incentives. Society firmly believes that early recognition of merit and talent is essential and can mark the beginning of a brilliant career. The executive committee selects this prestigious Award of the Society based on prescribed criteria.
1. Objectives To recognize outstanding achievements /contributions made by Young Engineers in the fields of Energy, Environment, Sustainability and Combustion.
2. Scope Best thesis at Doctoral level/ Masters Level (May be in multiple numbers), recommended by the heads of various Engineering Institutions/ Colleges will be evaluated for their innovative potential by an ISEES Selection Committee comprising of experts.
3. Call for Nominations Nominations for thesis at Doctoral/ Masters level will be invited from Deans/Heads of Engineering College/Departments for assessing their innovative potential and intrinsic merit. The nominations are to be sent on A-4 size paper in the prescribed format (click here), and the same has to be uploaded on the prescribed google form available on the website. (Ink signed copy of the nominations are to be sent, in case the same has been downloaded from ISEES website). The nominations must be sent by Deans/Heads of Engineering College where the candidate has carried out his project/thesis and not through the organization where the candidate is presently working.
4. Eligibility Ph.D./ M.Tech. the thesis examined and accepted/ recommended for Award in 2024, up to the last date of nomination (Thesis Defense between 1st October 2022 to 30th September 2023). Any person not older than 40 years (for PhD)/35 years (for MTech) as on the 1st of January 2023 can apply. 5. Last Date for Nominations Online needs to be done via google form on and before 25th September 2023. The last date of receipt of the hardcopy nomination is also 30th September 2023. Subsequently, when requested by the Society, the Institution / College should be prepared to furnish copies of theses/projects along with relevant documents at short notice.

7. Awards The Award shall consist of a citation, a plaque and cash prize of Rs. 10000 for Best PhD Thesis and Rs. 7500 for Best M.Tech Thesis. The decision of the ISEES Council shall be final.
